How to Interpret your Facebook Analytics
According to Facebook, over 2 million people use their platform each month! Can you imagine if even 10% of those people saw one of your Facebook posts? At Wild Optix Designs, we highly recommend making use of Meta and everything it has to offer. Whether you’re posting on Facebook or having our team do it for you, you need to learn how to interpret your account analytics.

Prepackaged Insights
Facebook did the work for us, and now it’s time to understand what it all means. They have free tools to monitor the latest trends. The new meta platform offers interactive reports that allow you to filter by timeframes, age, gender, and demographics. It might sound a little complicated, but when you follow our tips and tricks you will understand the data that sits at your fingertips!
Facebook Insight Data
Facebook Insights measures your likes, engagement, reach, and demographics. The combination of these insights helps you to understand how your content is resonating with your audience. Facebook Insights also gives you information about how your page is growing and provides you with an excellent overview of how your current Facebook strategy is performing.
Accessing Facebook Insights
To access Facebook Insights for your business page, head over to your Facebook Page and click on “Insights” from within Meta Business Suite. When you click on Insights you will be shown the Overview tab. Aside from showing you the key metrics of your Page (Page Summary), it also shows you the key metrics for your five most recent posts and a brief comparison of your Page to similar Facebook Pages. You will also be able to see the insights for the last seven days. These summary insights include the stats such as Page Likes, Post Engagement, and Reach. The page summary also shows the percentage change from the previous period and graphs for the current period.
Insights for Similar Pages
While all insights are essential, we want to take a second to draw attention to the importance of looking at similar page insights. On the overview tab, you want to click on the ‘Pages to Watch’ section. This tab shows you how your Facebook Page is performing among your peers and competitors. We don’t encourage you to copy your competitors. You want your business to STAND OUT, not look like all the companies similar to yours! However, you can do a cross analysis to see what is working for them, what is not, and use that data to improve your content. Are videos doing well for them? Make more videos! If you click on any of the Pages listed, you will get a pop-up with the top posts of your competitor's page. The posts are ranked from the most engaging, to the least engaging, so you can see exactly what is doing well.
Your Fans
Another tab to keep track of is Your Fans. Fans are those that have liked your page. Facebook shows you the insights on fan location, language, and gender. Your business can use these insights to track whether your recent content has been eye-catching to the group that you’re aiming to reach. You can also see the people who saw your post– even if they weren’t your fans! In regards to the 'People Reached' and 'People Engaged' tabs you will see two sets of barred data because a portion of the people who interacted with your page won’t actually be your fans. Set a goal to connect with those people multiple times in order to drive them to like and follow your Facebook page!
Tip - you need to be using Facebook’s hashtag program on your posts to increase your engagement!
Social Media Growth
Page likes, engagement, and post reach do not happen on accident. It is NOT enough to just post- you have to put in countless hours of regular engagement to see positive insights on your page. That being said, while Facebook insights are important, growth is not linear! Your page will not steadily grow every single month; in fact, your analytics will fluctuate. It really does take an incredible amount of time and consistency to grow your audience, and then turn your audience into paying customers. You've got to stay at it for the years to come! Are you in your business for the long-haul?
Wild Optix Designs places an emphasis on quality engagement. What we mean by that is that one genuine engagement is better than being seen by a thousand people on a paid ad. Why? Because you want your target audience to organically discover and engage with your business. You don’t want hundreds of followers that were paid to follow your page and never interact! You don't need hundreds of followers to be successful. You just need a few happy fans that enjoy following you and are happy to spread the word.
